The right mentorship can make all the difference when looking to progress in your career. Whether you’re looking to up-level in your current role, transition into a new role or completely switch industries, the right mentor can help guide you through these moments. There’s a reason why 84% of Fortune 500 companies have mentoring programs and 97% of individuals with a mentor feel that it’s helped propel their careers. Yet, only 37% of professionals have a mentor (Source).
Similar to not getting a resume review or a mock interview from someone in the role you’re interested in, mentorship from someone not in the role you’re interested in, can ultimately be…meritless and a waste of time.
That’s why at Refermarket we allow you to get connected to employees who’ve been in the same position as you. This gives you the best chance of your mentorship session being useful for you.
How does it work?
1.First head to your Career Services page and choose Mentorship and fill in the following:
a. Amount you’re willing to pay
b. Companies you’re interested in (Max 3)
c. Needed by
d. Details about your request
And click Improve My Career.
2. Your request will then be sent to a number of employees who can put in a request to provide mentorship. The employee view looks as follows:
3.When you click View Responses you can view the employees who have requested to provide mentorship help:
You can review each of the employee's backgrounds before determining which one to move forward with.
4. Clicking Accept will create a workroom where you can chat with the employee regarding mentorship
5. After learning more about the employee's background you can ultimately start the mentorship session by clicking Pay and Start:
6. During the session, you can discuss getting on a call if you’d prefer a live mentorship session.
7. Once the session is complete, the employee helping you out will mark the session as complete, and soon after you can as well to initiate the payment.
